It’s only been a month since the Kevin Hart-Ice Cube action-comedy Ride Along came out, but the film is already getting a sequel. Universal has greenlit a sequel to the film, and Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are closing their deals to return, Deadline reports. There’s no word on what the plot to Ride Along 2 entails, but it’s expected to include more action and will be more multi-cultural “to expand the demos.”
The first movie’s director, Tim Story, is also returning to direct Ride Along 2, and the script is currently being finalized by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, who co-wrote the final draft of the original. Ride Along spent three weekends as the #1 movie at the box office and has, thus far, grossed over $117 million domestically, so it’s not shocking at all that everyone involved wants to make another one.
