It’s only been a month since the Kevin Hart-Ice Cube action-comedy Ride Along came out, but the film is already getting a sequel. Universal has greenlit a sequel to the film, and Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are closing their deals to return, Deadline reports. There’s no word on what the plot to Ride Along 2 entails, but it’s expected to include more action and will be more multi-cultural “to expand the demos.â€
The first movie’s director, Tim Story, is also returning to direct Ride Along 2, and the script is currently being finalized by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, who co-wrote the final draft of the original. Ride Along spent three weekends as the #1 movie at the box office and has, thus far, grossed over $117 million domestically, so it’s not shocking at all that everyone involved wants to make another one.
