Following its Best Picture win yesterday, 12 Years a Slave is set to screen in 1,000 theaters up from 411, perfect for all those kids who now have to read the book for school. Oh, don’t be uptight. They aren’t reading this post anyway. Adding more intrigue to Fox Searchlight’s decision to double down on the movie’s theatrical run is the fact that Steve McQueen’s film has been available for digital rental and purchase for two weeks. Of course the unspoken question in all of this is: How will America feel if and when Non-Stop beats 12 Years at the box office?
