Cable network AMC, home to acclaimed dramas like Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and formerly Breaking Bad, announced the new slate of shows they’re developing today, including a big push towards scripted comedy.
AMC has greenlit its first scripted comedy pilot, We Hate Paul Revere. Created by and starring Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner (who wrote together on My Boys and Whitney), the show follows two brothers trying to make their place in history in Colonial Boston. AMC started developing this comedy in 2012, and if they order it to series, it’s expected to debut in 2015.
The network is also developing five new comedies:
No Money Down, created by and starring The Daily Show’s Wyatt Cenac, is about a guy who starts working at an Austin car dealership after his career bottoms out.
Sober Buddies, produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and created by Danny Comden, follows a pro surfer named Jonesy working as a sober coach to Jason, the son of a wealthy industrialist, only Jonesy just went off the wagon yesterday.
Hollywood Babble-On, a late night show hosted by Kevin Smith and co-host Ralph Garman. Based on their popular podcast of the same name.
An untitled comedy co-created by and starring John Leguizamo that’s inspired by Leguizamo’s life and follows a group of men in New York.
Random Acts, based on Andrea Abbate’s play of the same name about a pair of single LA women in their early 30s dealing with relationships and family while also working as contract killers.
