‘The Big Bang Theory’ Gets a Triple Season Renewal

Big Bang fans can now rest easy knowing that they’ll be getting new episodes at least until after we elect our next president. According to Variety, the smash hit CBS sitcom has been officially given a triple season renewal through the 2016-2017 season. Some of the main cast members – including recent SNL host Jim Parsons – are currently in the middle of contract renewal negotiations. “Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television,†CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler said in a statement. Big Bang drew its highest ratings yet this season (its seventh), averaging 19.79 million viewers per episode. The renewal of Big Bang paints a hopeful picture for Chuck Lorre’s three other CBS shows (Two and a Half Men, Mike and Molly, Mom), which are expected to earn season renewals as well.
