Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are reuniting for their first starring film roles together since 2008’s Baby Mama. According to Variety, Poehler is in final negotiations to join Fey in The Nest, a comedy by longtime SNL writer Paula Pell about two sisters “who decide to throw one last massive party in their parents’ house before it’s sold, and in the process they learn to mature.†Pitch Perfect’s Jason Moore is set to direct the film, with Fey, Poehler, and Jay Roach all serving as producers. The duo most recently shared a cameo in Anchorman 2 and cohosted the Golden Globes together in January, leading the awards show ratings to a 10-year high.
Here’s Paula Pell talking a bit about the movie in an interview with us from last year:
We’re really excited about it. It’s a lot of fun. It’s sort of based on my childhood with my sister, and I have this crazy journal from when I was 13. There’s some entries in the movie that were actual entries from the journal. My sister was always the really beautiful tall ‘70s fox, and I was the short little matron that looked like I was 50 when I was 13. Her journal was always like, “I went camping with Bill. I think I might be pregnant,†and mine was always like, “I changed the grid in my rock tumbler today. The amethyst is really looking good.†I had a science kit and was an asexual little girl.
