Fox Cancels ā€˜Dadsā€™, ā€˜Surviving Jackā€™, and ā€˜Enlistedā€™

Itā€™s a sitcom bloodbath over at the Fox network. THR reports that Fox has canceled Dads, Enlisted, and Surviving Jack, three out of four new sitcoms the network launched this season (the fourth, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was given a season two renewal months ago).

Dadsā€™ cancelation isnā€™t really a surprise considering that Fox cut its episode order midway through the season and the show hasnā€™t been very popular with critics or viewers. Enlisted was well-liked with critics but didnā€™t receive enough viewers to overcome the terrible Friday night slot the network gave it whileĀ Surviving Jack received mixed reviews and also got low ratings.

The network also passed on a trio of comedy pilots: Fatrick, from Donā€™t Trust the B creator Nahnatchka Khan; No Place Like Home, starring Jane Kaczmarek and Jon Heder; and Dead Boss, starring Jane Krakowski. Foxā€™s other pilots, Sober Companion, starring Justin Long and Nick Frost, and the Tina Fey-produced Cabot College, starring Fortune Feimster and Margaret Cho, are still in talks with Fox for a pickup, with Cabot College being aimed at midseason with a potential six-episode order. Fox has already ordered three comedies for the new season: Mulaney, which had its episode order extended from six to 16 today, Weird Loners, and Will Forteā€™s The Last Man on Earth, which is planned for midseason.
