The era of NBC’s must-see Thursday night comedies is nearing its end. NBC announced its fall Thursday night lineup over the weekend, and notably absent from the schedule is veteran comedy Parks and Recreation. “We have several of our strongest comedies by some of our best auspices being held for midseason, including the final season of Parks and Recreation,†NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement, which series creator Mike Schur confirmed on Twitter yesterday: “The 7th season of #ParksandRec will be our last (100% mutual between creative team and network). Sad, but happy and excited. See you soon!†Schur also stressed that NBC “has been nothing but supportive†and called it a “happy network TV story.†NBC has yet to announce the number of episodes ordered for Parks’ final season, but it’s likely the 2017-set season will have 13 episodes similar to the final seasons of 30 Rock and Community.
