There hasn’t been a ton of fanfare about the new Michael Jackson album, XSCAPE, but here it is — streaming on Spotify in full. What’s immediately comforting about the entire project (a collection of old recordings cut and spliced and updated by producers like Timbaland, StarGate, John McClain, and Rodney Jerkins) is that it all genuinely sounds like Michael Jackson. Fans of the late singer will have no trouble recognizing what they loved about MJ in the first place. “Love Never Felt So Good,†the album’s first single, is immediately Song of Summer–worthy. There’s even a surprisingly fun “A Horse With No Name†rework called “A Place With No Name.†And it wouldn’t be kind-of-creepy Michael Jackson without a song called “Do You Know Where Your Children Are.â€
