“No matter how hard I try, to be just one of the guys/There’s a little something inside that won’t let me,†sings Jenny Lewis on “Just One of the Guys,†the first single off her upcoming album, The Voyager. The title is funny if only because of the fact that the song is produced by Beck. (Is that him in the background?) And while the rest of the album promises production and songwriting from the likes of Ryan Adams and Jonathan Rice, we’ll let the downer parts of the song fade into its wonderfully breezy-sounding backdrop. Summertime shouldn’t feel this introspective. The Voyager is out on July 29.
