Chris Rock flat-out stated that producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron had never offered him hosting duties at the Oscars, because if they had, he would have “definitely” taken it. “I didn’t get an offer,” Rock told the Wrap. “I mean, it’s Neil Patrick Harris. It’s like, who would pick me before Neil Patrick Harris? He’s an amazing host.” (True.) The statement directly contradicts a previously reported piece that said three people, including Rock (the 2005 Oscars host), had been offered the job before NPH. At least we now know that part of that report is not true: They like you, NPH! They really like you!
