FX is expanding Ryan Murphy’s empire and has given a straight-to-series order to a true-crime anthology called American Crime Story, the network announced today. The first season will cover the O.J. Simpson trial and will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Murphy, who is among the show’s executive producers, will direct the first episode, from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, whose previous writing collaborations include Man on the Moon, The People vs. Larry Flynt, and uh, Agent Cody Banks.
The series is meant to be a sort of companion piece to American Horror Story, addressing a different real-crime saga every season. The show will go into production in early 2015, so one assumes casting is nigh. Is there a way to stunt-cast an actual Kardashian into this somehow? If anyone can do it, Ryan Murphy can.
