There have been a lot of iconic musical moments during David Letterman’s tenure at the Ed Sullivan Theater, and now we can add another to the list: the network television debut of Japanese virtual pop star Hatsune Miku. For those who don’t know, Miku is a “vocaloid,†a hologram with a computer-generated voice who has previously opened for Lady Gaga and performed for sold-out crowds of thousands. Dave was understandably a little skeptical, but he seems to warm up to her by the end. They even wave to each other. It’s pretty cute!
This wave is legendary.
