‘Zoolander 2’ Moves Forward, Penelope Cruz Joins the Cast

The idea of a Zoolander sequel has been floating around for over a decade, but now it looks like it’s actually happening. Deadline reports that Penelope Cruz has signed on for a starring role in Zoolander 2, though her character’s details have not been revealed. Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson’s roles haven’t officially been confirmed yet, but Ferrell mentioned in a September interview that Mugatu was in the script. As for the plot, Ben Stiller revealed last year that Zoolander 2 “will be about how the fashion world moves so quickly. So, the movie will begin at a time when the whole world has moved on from Derek and Hansel because they’re so ancient history. It’s about them having to reinvent themselves and try to become relevant again.�
