Was it obvious at Outkast’s reunion shows this summer that André 3000 didn’t really want to be there? Now it’s more obvious. “I didn’t wanna do the tour,†André 3000 told the Fader this week. “We hadn’t performed in 10 years. It was old songs.†So why’d he do it? Normal, middle-aged concerns about money: “I’m 39, I got a 17-year-old kid, and I gotta support certain things.†André says the tour left him feeling “like a sellout,†a feeling he tried to alleviate by telling everybody he was selling out. It worked! “It’s not as bad as pretending,†he said. “It’s being honest about it.†The only highlight of the tour turned out to be the different jumpsuits he wore for each show, which are currently on display at the Savannah College of Art and Design: “I was more excited about [the jumpsuits] than for the actual show.â€Â Go see those jumpsuits, everybody.
