ABC has a new comedy in the works. Deadline reports that the network has given a put pilot commitment to an untitled single-camera comedy from Trophy Wife writers Casey Windsor and David Johnson described as “a buddy comedy set in the world of the NBA about a rookie who doesn’t speak English and a translator who doesn’t speak basketball.†Dan Fogelman, who is also developing two other ABC comedies with Jimmy Kimmel and Simon Stephenson, will co-executive produce with Aaron Kaplan and called the project “basically the international Odd Couple set in the NBA.†This makes the second NBA-themed comedy recently put in development at ABC following the addition Chris Paul’s semi-autobiographical show in October.
