Philippe Petit’s daring tightrope walk between the World Trade Center towers has already inspired an Oscar-winning documentary and a pretty great book, so the bar is high for Robert Zemeckis’s The Walk, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit. Given Philippe’s impish public persona, the film’s first trailer seems a little weighty — does every footstep need its own timpani? — but all is forgiven once the words “In 3D†flash upon the screen. No movie needed to be in 3-D like this movie needed to be in 3-D.
