Thanks to Michael Keaton, Christoph Waltz did not win a Golden Globe last night for his role in Big Eyes. His work in Scary Eyes (2015, Getty Images) remained unimpeachable.
Waltz later found his efforts to consume the meat patty interrupted by the arrival of certified Golden Globe winner Amy Adams, who exercised the customary winner’s right of Droit du seigneur over the sandwich. And yet it was only by subsuming his ego to the natural hierarchy of the world that Waltz truly did find peace.
