Following HBO’s announcement that it’ll be offering full stand-alone streaming (for $14.99/month) starting on Apple TV next month, Showtime has announced plans to offer a similar service. CBS chief Les Moonves told Deutsche Bank Securities 2015 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference that “in the not-too-distant future,†Showtime will allow cord-cutters to watch content for a small monthly fee, saying “the floodgate is now open.â€Â This wouldn’t be Moonves’s first foray into this world, as CBS launched a subscription streaming service back in October that Moonves told the investors is doing “extremely well,†with subscribers exceeding 100,000. So if you hate cable but you love House of Lies, start getting excited.
