Looks Like Robin Thicke and Pharrell Will Appeal That ‘Blurred Lines’ Verdict

One day after a jury found Pharrell and Robin Thicke guilty of plagiarism, Howard E. King, the duo’s attorney, told Fox Business in the language of analogies that he will appeal the verdict. “We owe it to song writers around the world to make sure this verdict doesn’t stand,†King said. “My clients know that they wrote the song ‘Blurred Lines’ from their hearts and souls and no other source … We are going to exercise every post trial remedy we have to make sure this verdict does not stand. We look at it as being in the seventh inning of a game that could go into extra innings.â€

The jury awarded Marvin Gaye’s family more than $7 million because they deduced that “Blurred Lines†borrowed too much from “Got to Give It Up.†King argues that the songs feel the same but are structurally different; watch him talk here about silk, rayon, baseball, and his attempt to quash what he claims is a dangerous legal precedent.
