The Simpsons isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Entertainment Weekly reports that Fox has officially given the long-running series a double, 22-episode season renewal for a 27th and 28th season, which will bring the total number of Simpsons episodes to 625. The Simpsons debuted on Fox back in 1989 and is the longest-running scripted primetime show in US television history, and it had a big year in 2014 between the launch of the Simpsons World app, live 25th anniversary show, and FXX’s 12-day marathon.
