Standup Tig Notaro has a new project headed to Netflix next month. According to Variety, the streaming network announced a round of new documentaries today including Tig, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year:
Tig is about how Notaro found herself on stage in 2012 when she opened her standup set at Largo in Los Angeles with the line, “Good evening. Hello. I have cancer.†That came at the end of a tumultuous four-month period that included both the loss of her mother and her subsequent breast cancer diagnosis. Netflix describes the film as “an unflinching look at a woman determined to find humor, life and love in the places we all fear the most.â€
Tig makes its Netflix debut on Friday, July 17th. This makes the second Notaro documentary to debut this year following Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro, which aired on Showtime in April.
