On October 16, Cary Fukunaga will make his Netflix debut with Beasts of No Nation, an adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala’s 2005 novel about a group of child soldiers in West Africa. The film stars Idris Elba as the chilling leader of a group of mercenary fighters who recruit a young boy named Agu (Abraham Attah) to kill the militant who murdered the boy’s family. In addition to Netflix, the film will also open in theaters, making Beasts (and Idris!) eligible for the Oscars. And judging by the film’s first trailer, it might just be the young Abraham Attah who scores a nom.
