Fast cars! A beautiful woman! Manslaughter! Christian Bale has signed on to star as Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann’s biopic of the Italian luxury-sports-car magnate, Deadline reports. The film will reportedly take place in 1957, a decade after Ferrari started manufacturing cars for the road. That’s also the year that the Ferrari brand was competing in the Mille Miglia and its driver Alfonso de Portago blew out a tire in an accident that killed him, his co-driver, and nine spectators (for which Ferrari was charged for manslaughter). As you might expect, there’s a role for a female love interest that hasn’t been cast yet. Buckle up, paisanos.
