The sequel to The Lion King will kick off with The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, a movie on the Disney Channel, followed by a series (simply The Lion Guard) on Disney Junior, with Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union voicing the roles of Simba and Nala, respectively. But since this is about bringing kids into the brand, the plot is going to focus on their cub Kion (voiced by The Strain’s Max Charles), who puts together a band of friends, consisting of Bunga, a honey badger (Joshua Rash), Ono, a smart egret (Atticus Shaffer), Fuli, a cheetah (Diamond White), and Beshte, a jolly hippo (Dusan Brown), to patrol the Pride Lands with him. Most important, James Earl Jones is returning to reprise the voice of Mufasa, Simba’s father and the one true king. We never forgot you, Mufasa.
