Issa Rae’s in-the-works HBO pilot is rounding out its cast. Deadline reports that Jay Ellis (The Game) and Yvonne Orji (Basketball Wife) have been cast in Rae’s pilot Insecure, which she co-wrote with The Nightly Show’s Larry Wilmore. The series stars Rae and follows “the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern day African-American woman through the eyes of Issa Dee,†and Ellis will play her “depressed and unemployed boyfrend†Lawrence while Orji will play Issa’s best friend Molly, described as “very successful in her corporate work life†but “unsuccessful in her love life.†Rae will co-executive produce the pilot alongside Prentice Penny, who’s also produced for Scrubs, Happy Endings, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
