After co-winning the Palme d’Or for her turn in the sultry French drama Blue Is the Warmest Color, Léa Seydoux doesn’t seem to be having trouble landing roles in franchise blockbusters. The newest Bond Girl has now been offered the part of Bella Donna Boudreaux in the Channing Tatum–starring Gambit, according to Deadline. The role was highly sought-after, with Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation), and Seydoux on the short list; Ferguson dropped out to take a role in Tate Taylor’s The Girl on the Train, and the role went to Seydoux. Bella Donna, who also goes by Belladonna, Belle, and Bel, first appeared in X-Men in 1992. A childhood friend of Gambit and a deft assassin, she has similar energy-generating powers (though she doesn’t throw playing cards at people). She eventually married the Cajun card-thrower before hiring someone to murder him. They reconciled a few issues later. Gambit is slated to open on October 7, 2016.
