Netflix’s algorithms have acquired their latest target: Christopher Guest. The streaming service announced on Twitter today that it had picked up Mascots, a new film from Guest that follows a group of “‘unusual’ men and women, with big heads and furry suits, [as they] compete to win the prestigious Gold Fluffy Award and be crowned best mascot in the world.†Besides the fact that it will start streaming sometime in 2016, Netflix did not provide any further details on the film; based on the plot summary, it seems likely that it’s another in Guest’s long line of gently satirical mockumentaries, with his usual repertory cast. “Good thing I already look like a mascot!†said Eugene Levy.
