Keith Richards, one of the O.G. Rolling Stones, is something like unstoppable. The 71-year-old’s shown no real signs of slowing down performance-wise, he’s said crazy things as of late (e.g., rap is for “tone-deaf people“), and he’s even set up to release a very outside-the-box first new solo album in 23 years. That record, Crosseyed Heart, will drop on September 18, along with this Netflix doc from Morgan Neville (Twenty Feet From Stardom). The film, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, promises to chronicle the making of Heart, as well as stretches of Richards’s vast, inspired life — the people, places, and sounds that shaped him into the juggernaut he is today.
“If there’s a Mount Rushmore of rock ‘n’ roll, Keith’s face is surely on it. He has always represented the soul of rock music — for all of the light and dark shades that implies,†Neville has said of the project and its seemingly immortal subject. “To my relief, Keith Richards turned out to be a real man — full of humor, knowledge, and wisdom.†Yes, all of that is teased in the trailer. Until next week:
