How do you decide whether you want to host the Academy Awards, arguably one of the most thankless gigs in the business? Do you think about whether it’s a good career move, or if you can try to keep the ceremonies under four hours? “You got to look at your personal schedule,” Chris Rock told Vulture at the Meadowland screening hosted by the Peggy Siegal Company at MoMA on Monday. Really? “You do! I mean, you have a life,” he said with a shrug. So, basically, Rock just considered how to fit it into his schedule, like a dentist appointment or attending his kid’s piano recital. As for whether he’s concerned that all of the acting nominees will be white again this year, as happened last year, he was philosophical. “I got no control over any of that,” he said. “I’ve got to host the show I’m given.”
