Jada Pinkett Smith will be back on TV, this time with her own show: ABC has ordered a put pilot for a legal drama starring Pinkett Smith called Murder Town, from the studio that produces Lifetime’s Unreal. She’ll play a woman who becomes Wilmington, Delaware’s first black district attorney, but this is ABC, so it’ll have that extra Shonda Rhimes soapy twist: “She finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves, a shocking revelation about her murdered husband, and a polarizing, racially-charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground.†It’ll be written by Castle’s Barry Schindel, who’ll also executive-produce along with Pinkett Smith and Miguel Melendez. Pinkett Smith recently appeared on Fox’s Gotham, but it looks like Fish Mooney will be, well, resting with the fishes for quite a while.
