Warner Bros.’ live-action Pinocchio remake starring Robert Downey Jr. has hit a snag: The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider reports that Paul Thomas Anderson, who was onboard to write the script, will not be directing. It’s unclear whether he’ll stay with the project to write the screenplay, but it’s worth nothing that PTA has never written a film he didn’t also direct. Disney also has a live-action Pinocchio film in the works from Peter Hedges, while Guillermo del Toro’s stop-action Pinocchio has long been gestating. So it’s safe to assume you’ll see someone’s version of the wooden boy hit theaters eventually.
