Andy Serkis, master of disappearing into CGI roles like Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, Caesar in The Planet of the Apes, and whoever his mysterious character is in The Force Awakens, has found another creepy creature to play. According to Tracking Board, Serkis will produce, direct, and star in Steelskin, a gritty retelling of the classic fairy tale about Rumpelstiltskin, which is already dark enough to involve kidnapping, dark magic, and high-stakes guessing games. Steelskin’s script comes from Hossein Amini, whose credits include Drive and the gritty fairy tale retelling that started it all, Snow White and the Huntsman. Serkis is currently directing Jungle Book: Origins, which is not the Jungle Book movie with Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, and Lupita Nyong’o (that’s Disney’s), but the one with Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Cate Blanchett.
