After jumping back in time from 2006 to 1979 between its first and second installments, FX’s grim and desolate anthology series Fargo will circle back from the era of shag carpeting to the era of subprime-loan debt in season three. Showrunner Noah Hawley told Entertainment Weekly, that the new installment will be “set a couple years after season 1.” So roughly, this would be around 2008 or 2009. Hawley also admitted that Fargo, which has so far resisted traditional serialized storytelling, could “potentially” return to a few old characters from the series. “There are going to be connections, the way the first year was connected to the movie and the second year was connected to the first,” Hawley told EW, “I wouldn’t want to take that away from anybody.” So, will Allison Tolman be back as Molly Solverson? Will Keith Carradine return as an older Lou? Heck, will Frances McDormand pop by? It’s a beautiful day, anything could happen.
