In what seems to be a George Costanza–like gambit to make every patron seem more attractive by comparison, a pair of bar owners in Melbourne, Australia, have decided to theme their bar around Seinfeld’s George Costanza. The Sydney Herald reports that the bar, named “George’s Bar,†features autographed items, Seinfeld paste-ups, and a menu tailored around jokes from the iconic series (how many times will a drunk patron shout “no soup for you!†at a bartender? Too many times, probably).
“When you walk in,†co-owner and -operator David Barrett said, “The two front doors have two George’s quotes: ‘It’s not a lie if you believe it’ and ‘Everyone must like me. I must be liked.’†Because George Costanza seems to be weirdly popular with Australians (another conceit that sounds like a plot from Seinfeld), Barrett is also talking with a local artist who’s “in the middle of doing eight different George Costanza paintings†about displaying some of his pieces. Let’s hope they’re all about “The Timeless Art of Seduction.â€
