Game of Thrones Season 6 First-Look Photos Have Arrived

Send a raven to Theon — dear old dad Balon Greyjoy is alive! But perhaps not for long. Remember, Melisandre's blood-magic leech spell back in season two named the Greyjoy patriarch as one of three kings to die, and the other two have since passed away, so ... 

Jaime has to break the bad news to his sister/baby mama Cersei that … they can't both have the same haircut. Seriously, though, this is probably the moment when he has to inform Cersei that their daughter, Myrcella, the one he was sent to Dorne to rescue, is now dead. 

In case you had any doubt as to whether Myrcella survived the poisoned kiss, this should be a tip-off. It's not like Tommen's going to leave his room for any old funeral.

Daenerys Targaryen, who took flight with her dragon and ended up surrounded by a not-so-friendly Dothraki horde, doesn't look like she's had much time to clean up since her trip. Still, hope is in sight — she's at least near some water. And since the Dothraki abhor traveling over water, maybe she has some new traveling companions.

The dynamic duo join forces with the idea that, together, they could "manage" Meereen in Dany's absence. But if Dany being an outsider caused problems, what's in store for these two? At least that's what Tyrion seems to be contemplating. 

Arya Stark, who got lost on her quest to become "no one" and exacted some very personal revenge by killing Ser Meryn Trant, is still blind. Was she banished from the House of Black and White, or is this more like a temporary time-out? Either way, she’s looking like a beggar girl. 

Maybe Arya could learn a thing or two from Bran ... who is learning a thing or two from the man he found beneath the tree on his trek beyond the Wall (now being played by Max von Sydow for maximum gravitas). With the aid of the Sight, Bran can not only walk but also visit places where he himself is not physically present — such as, say, Winterfell — and "see" what happened there. That's got to come in handy.

In case you were worried, looks like Sansa and Theon/Reek survived that leap from the battlements, although Theon might have sprained an ankle there, or something worse. (If the fall from a lesser height killed Myranda, imagine what it could do to someone in his weakened condition.)

Now Sansa and Theon just need to decide where to go next, before Roose and Ramsay notice they're gone. Lucky for them, the Boltons have plenty of other business to attend to, such as cleaning up after the big battle with Stannis. And general glowering. 

Fresh from her kill, Brienne may have remembered that her original mission was to protect Sansa, which required her constant vigilance. Perhaps now she's wondering what her goal in life should be, if she's succeeded at exacting revenge for Renly's death (by killing Stannis) but failed by letting both Stark girls slip away from her. What's a knight to do?

Poor old Sam doesn't look shipshape here. He and Gilly are en route to the Citadel, but they might change their course if being seasick becomes a major problem.
