At Long Last, The Revenant’s Bear Gets Some Awards-Season Love; She’s Nominated for an MTV Movie Award!

You go, girl. Photo: Twentieth Century Fox

Both the Oscars and the Golden Globes used The Revenant’s scene-stealing bear for bits, but neither show loved her enough to nominate her work. Enter: The MTV Movie Awards, which have given the film’s true hero the recognition she deserves for fiercely giving her life to protect her cubs. The Bear and Leonardo DiCaprio are nominated for Best Fight at this year’s show, because, for one grizzly extended scene, she most definitely reduced Leo’s character to a chew toy (but didn’t rape him, guys). Finally, this awards season’s greatest injustice has been corrected. Rawr!

Stars Wars: The Force Awakens leads the nominations with 11, including multiple noms for John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin are up for Best Kiss (among other awards), which means someone may very well get pegged on the MTV Movie Awards stage when The Rock and Kevin Hart host the show on April 10. Happy International Women’s Day!
