Marking a tonal departure for absurdist-comedy duo David Wain and Michael Showalter, Second Sound Barrier is a ’70s-pastiche action flick replete with “the three fastest drivers in the world,†shadowy government types, and a mysterious woman named Lady Billionaire. With a cast that includes Jeremy Sisto, Juliette Lewis, and Vincent Kartheiser, Second Sound Barrier also differs from Wain and Showalter’s previous films in that, unlike them, it does not actually exist. The fake trailer is supposedly an ad for Robert Graham’s fragrances, but the video doesn’t mention perfume, so feel free to assume you are being brainwashed. Fake or not, it’ll be hard for Second Sound Barrier to live up to the standard set by its predecessor, First Sound Barrier, an American classic.Â
