It’s a good time to be a Superman fan: Batman v Superman raked in lots of cash, Supergirl just finished its first season on CBS, and now, it looks like a long-gestating Superman prequel series is staffing up and nearing a pilot order at Syfy. Krypton would chronicle the saga of Supes’s home planet before its destruction, and Sleepy Hollow executive producer/writer Damian Kindler has been tapped to act as the show’s executive producer and showrunner. Peaky Blinders director Colm McCarthy has also been brought on as the potential pilot’s director. Longtime superhero scribe David S. Goyer (who worked on The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, and Blade, among other spandex-clad projects) co-wrote the pilot’s original screenplay with Ian Goldberg and has been chatting up the show for years. If negotiations get difficult, hopefully people on both sides of the table can realize their mothers’ names are Martha.
