Between the amorous glances, erotic foreplay, and seductive touching, Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult’s new dystopian sci-fi film Equals is very, very sexy. But while it might be daunting for certain actors to shoot scenes of such a provocative nature, it’s clear that Hoult took his role in stride — and it doesn’t hurt when there are not a lot of people in the room watching you get freaky, either.
“Drake [Doremus, Equals’ director] has a wonderful way of working those scenes,†Hoult told Vulture at the movie’s Tribeca Film Festival’s premiere last night. “It’s a lot of improvisation. You’ll be certain that they’ll be literally no one in the room with you when you do long takes — 20 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, who knows how long. They’ll just be the sound operator and the camera operator in there with us.â€
When it gets down to actually filming those scenes, though, the process was surprisingly chill. “Drake will stick his head in occasionally and whisper a little note or something and then Kristen and I would carry on,†Hoult continues. “In a way, it’s very weird to do that type of scene. It was actually very weird the first time I watched the film. I was like, wow, that’s me, but I feel I shouldn’t be watching it.â€
If you want to experience the eroticism for yourself, the film will be released on July 15.
