Modern life is full of many troubles, but I think we would all agree that the most tiresome thing about being a thinking adult in the year 2016 is keeping up with the many, many projects in development about the tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. You’ve got Battle of the Sexes, which stars Emma Stone and Steve Carell; an untitled HBO film starring Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti; and Match Maker, which will star Will Ferrell and a human woman to be named later. Woof, that’s a lot of backhands. But today, it got slightly easier to tell them apart, as Battle of the Sexes released its first image of Stone and Carell in costume, thus cementing them in the minds of audiences as the true and proper screen incarnations of King and Riggs. 15–love, Battle of the Sexes.
