Months after the Coens’ Hail, Caesar!, Woody Allen returns with his own love letter to the Golden Age of Hollywood, Café Society. We don’t want to make too much of the similarity, but both of them do feature an actress who once wed Ryan Reynolds doing an outrageous accent. Weird! Jesse Eisenberg (who also appeared in Allen’s To Rome With Love) stars as a young man trying to make his way through 1930s Hollywood, who’s swept up in romances with an assistant (Kirsten Stewart) and a socialite (Blake Lively). Musings on love, life, and the nature of the universe undoubtedly ensue. The film premieres at Cannes, and you can check out its poster right here.
