Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.
Second City sent us another clip this week from the legendary 1995 revue Piñata Full of Bees, which featured ensemble performers Adam McKay, Rachel Dratch, Scott Adsit, Jon Glaser, Scott Allman, and Jenna Jolovitz. In the above scene, McKay meets a woman (Jolovitz) at a bar who reminisces about her short-lived career as an Ice Capades skater, and she pays her new friend a high compliment: “You’d be beautiful on ice! You’d be like a thoroughbred – like a large, frisky, prancing, flesh-colored horse on skates!†Watch some other clips from the revue here and here, and if you’re wondering why there’s a wheelchair on the stage, here’s your answer.
