Slap the first bass you see today: The Red Hot Chili Peppers just announced their eleventh studio album, The Getaway, will be coming June 17. It will be the band’s first album in years not to be produced by Rick Rubin; instead, Danger Mouse handled production and Nigel Goodrich mixed it. The Peppers’ last album came out back in 2011, but they’ve stayed in the news by playing the Super Bowl, headlining Bernie Sanders fundraisers, and getting accused of sexual harassment. The band also marked Thursday’s announcement by releasing the album’s first single, “Dark Necessities,†which they assured fans was not just a comedian pretending to be them this time.
