HBO’s Bill Maher–hosted Real Time is making more time for next month’s Republican and Democratic national conventions. The network’s signature current-events talk show will expand to three nights per week during both the RNC and DNC, with half-hour editions on the Wednesday and Thursday of the two convention weeks supplementing the show’s regular hour-long Friday episode. Republicans gather in Cleveland the week of July 18, while Democrats huddle in Philadelphia starting July 25. This year’s conventions probably won’t be quite as exciting as it seemed just a few months ago, now that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have snagged the required number of delegates needed to claim their respective party’s nominations. But given how unpredictable the 2016 election has been up until now, don’t be surprised to see more comedy shows follow suit with expanded coverage.
