A New York City grand jury has opted not to charge Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave for the murder of his bodyguard during last month’s deadly Irving Plaza shooting, TMZ reports. He had been formally indicted for attempted second-degree murder, a charge which still stands. He’ll also face four felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Troy Ave’s lawyer previously argued in court that the rapper did not shoot and kill his bodyguard Ronald McPhatter, or shoot himself, and it now appears that the results of ballistics tests show no connection between the weapon Troy Ave fired at the venue and the one which fatally injured his bodyguard. His lawyer will reportedly push to have him released on bail at a hearing this week.
