It would seem that politicians this election season have two choices: Incur the wrath of aging legends like the Rolling Stones and Queen for blasting their music without permission, or take a Pokémon “gotta catch ’em all†approach, and use as many celebrities possible in a peppy a capella rendition of a feel-good pop single. With Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins, channeling their Pitch Perfect characters, leading the way, the video runs as a sort of who’s who of actors that can sing — or at least inflect lyrics dramatically (looking at you, Jane Fonda). Mandy Moore, Aisha Tyler, Alan Cumming, Eva Longoria, Idina Menzel, Jane Fonda, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kristin Chenoweth, and Mary-Louise Parker were just some of the three-dozen famous voices belting “Fight Song†in support of Hillary Clinton. The hit’s original singer, Rachel Platten, was there, too, so it’s unlikely she’ll be joining John Oliver’s “Don’t Use Our Song†supergroup any time soon.
