Deadline reports that Chiwetel Ejiofor is close to signing on to play the Apostle Peter in Garth Davis’s upcoming Biblical epic Mary Magdalene, which aims to be “an authentic and humanistic portrait of one of the most enigmatic and misunderstood spiritual figures in history.†The Oscar nominee would star alongside Rooney Mara as the title character and Joaquin Phoenix as the big J.C. Ejiofor is still only “in talks†for the role, but we’ll know the story is true if he denies it three times.
