We may soon be seeing Colin Farrell go full Southern Gothic. Sources tell Variety that Farrell — coming off the critical success of The Lobster — is in talks to star in Sofia Coppola’s forthcoming The Beguiled remake. He would fill the role originated by Clint Eastwood in the 1971 Civil War drama, as an injured Union soldier who’s rescued from death by a young girl and taken to an all-girls boarding school to recover. (Just guess how an attractive man like him fares in a sexually repressed boarding-school environment, okay?) Elle Fanning has signed on to play a student, while Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst have also joined as the school’s headmistress and a teacher, respectively.
