Michael K. Williams Used to Be a Backup Dancer for Ginuwine, Skills He Did Not Get to Show Off in a Musical Episode of The Wire

Just like fellow tough guy Jason Statham, Michael K. Williams got his start in show business as a backup dancer, performing alongside and behind such luminaries as Ginuwine and Missy Elliott. As he explained to Stephen Colbert Thursday night, this eventually led to a life-changing gig as Omar Little on The Wire, a series that unfortunately did not let Williams show off his musical talent in an all-singing, all-dancing episode. If only David Simon could have thought up a good rhyme for “late capitalism.�
