The #Oscar4Oscar campaign starts here. Variety reports that he’ll star in Steven Spieldberg’s adaptation of The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, which follows the 1958 abduction of a 7-year-old Jewish boy who was secretly baptized, and in accordance with the laws of the time, taken from his family to be raised as a Catholic. Tony Kushner, who wrote Lincoln and Munich for Spielberg, is writing the script off of David Kertzer’s novel. Spielberg repertory player Mark Rylance is also starring. Oscar Isaac’s role hasn’t been announced, but a historical drama? With Mark Rylance and Steven Spielberg? Oscar Isaac has made a big friendly deal.
